Number 8, it’s a Chinese symbol of good luck and for any of you that ever read these notes, I talk about luck a lot. That said, in the grips of spiralling inflation, interest rates, wars and the suggestion of a global recession, its hard sometimes to recognise, or perhaps we overlook the luck that befalls us... I however consider myself eternally lucky really. Wine is a tough business; however, I get to make these amazing Nocturne wines, different every year.
Each year striving to make the best one ever and you my peerless supporters, keep supporting this passion project to make not just Margaret River’s best wine, but Australia’s best wine, which in my humble opinion, makes them some of the best wines in the world.
So, I guess we all need a little luck in this life, I have lucky underpants, I wear them any time I need a little extra luck, like flying in planes or drinking pinot.... Maybe more people need lucky undies, or I just need to get a number 8 embroidered on the front and share the love... As you know, Nocturne is comprised of two wine ranges. The Single Vineyard or SV range and the Sub Regional or SR range. Our SV Sheaok Cabernet and SV Forrest Chardonnay remain, as ever, epic expressions of the best sites in Margaret River (due for allocation and release in early 2024).
SR5 – So, five vintages into the Sub Regional range. These wines have not just come of age, they are defining their own direction and verve if you will. I see this range as Margaret River at its finest. Complex and compelling, at the same time accessible, enjoyable and very, very awesome.
